My name is Kevin Kane and I am the President of Davis Kane Architects P.A. I have worked with this firm for 36 years and have seen major changes in the industry from my beginning days of pencil, pen and drafting boards to multiple computer screens operating off the cloud. The business has grown organically over the years and overall has been quite successful. I plan to hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine beginning February 29, 2020. It became apparent to me, my partner Robert Stevenson and key members of our team that we needed to get some key information out of my head in a more formal and documented way to allow the business to continue to flourish moving forward. We didn’t really know how to exactly go about doing this, but we were smart enough to realize that there was somebody out there that could help us … enter Cogent Analytics.
Our experience with Cogent Analytics has been very beneficial to our firm in looking to the future. I believe it has boosted moral and created a sense of ownership for our entire team. We started out this process with a few goals in mind: Clarify the business succession plan, get the two individuals who are interested in being part of the Davis Kane leadership working on the same page, improve efficiency by developing a project tracking system in order to improve our profitability, improve our staff communications, create job descriptions and establish regularly scheduled office team meetings and well as individual employee reviews.
I believe that we have achieved most of these goals and have set ourselves in motion towards achieving the balance of these goals. Could we have achieved all this by ourselves? Possibly, but by having Cogent Analytics come him and provide a 3rd party fresh look at our organization, it allowed it to happen more quickly and more efficiently. We were able to maintain our day to day function as a Client focused Architectural firm while the building blocks of our organization were being assembled by Cogent. We did have to spend some time with Warren Witter, our Project Director, and the process wasn’t inexpensive, but all in all we believe it has been and will be a very important investment in the future of our firm. We would certainly recommend Cogent Analytics to any organization looking to solve all or some of the goals stated above. I believe it will transition us from an organic organization to a more scientific based organization with more transparency about how our business functions.
