This being the first time we have had an outside consultant invited to view our operations, I was of course concerned how we as a company, and particularly myself as it’s leader, would be viewed by someone with the experience of working with contractors all over the country. At no time did I find myself, or our company effo1ts being criticized, but rather we were encouraged by the number of things we are getting right and the small changes we could make to significantly improve our results.
I know we are not your usual client in that we are strong financially, have a good backlog and customer base and have many talented employees. However, we saw the advantage of having this type of review at this time in order to improve our results when we are strong and prepare Geiler to make the leap to the next generation. With Andy Parsons’s help, we have identified key areas of improvement (inventory, construction productivity, computer system) and a path for that improvement.
Andy Parsons is a true professional, first diving into the numbers to see where we are currently, and our historic results. He meshed well with every Geiler employee he had direct contact with and though not afraid to point out obvious areas of improvement he did so in a way that was logical and encouraging. He has a rare gift of understanding people very quickly and putting them at ease. The thing I was most impressed with was the reaction our higher-level employees had in embracing the training he personally did and that which we used outside resources.
