We just wanted to write a brief overview of how our experience was working with Cogent.
We started out a little worried on the whole project, but soon looked at this as a great way to improve our company over all. The cost is well worth it all if you really use the program and stick to it.
When we started this project with Al from Cogent it did open our eyes to what our people really thought about the way we run our company. After the whole team took the survey and Al went over the results it did open our eyes to a lot of insight.
We found out some very important things about how ore people felt about the company. So it was clear that we needed to address these concerns ASAP.
Communicate, hold all accountable, give ownership to our people, have meetings weekly, clear job descriptions and clear understandings of what is expected of all our people, as well as time management for all. With the help of Stu and the understanding of where we wanted to go with our company we really decided to take this very serious. I’m glad we decided we needed this now and what a great time to spend the money to learn from the Cogent system.
We spent the whole160 hours plus some and worked late nights to get the project underway. Lots of meetings and time with Stu really helped us to get the results we were after. I believe that we are solid now on our KPl’s and have a clear vison going forward to keep all of our people communicating with each other as well as the leadership team. We had our 1st meeting and it went great. All of our people got very involved and they are accepting the new challenges. We will stay on our path and hope that they do as well. It’s a new formula for success, but you have to follow it. It’s not easy or everyone would be doing it. People have to want to buy into your plans and you have to teach them as leaders what your plan is clearly. You can then hold everyone accountable to their jobs and measure it weekly.
The financial accounting of their system I believe is very good. We were able to find out what our true overhead really is and use their system to start a new quote process to get us the true bottom line number we want to achieve. I really like that. We also set our budgets for all 3 companies for 2016. That is great for our variance meetings we will have monthly now.
The last thing I’ll touch on is their tax guy, Tim. He seems really great and knowledgeable and we hope he comes back in 4 weeks with a great plan for our Pre Tax solutions and our goal for a great exit strategy we set in place to when we are ready to retire in 8 to 10 yrs.
So take the challenge and stick to it. I believe it will work for anyone. Great program if you’re company is ready for it!
