We have been in business for 25 years with an electrical contracting company. As owners, we survived starting a new business, the economic crash of 2008 and the pandemic shut downs and resulting adjustments of 2020 and 2021. Our business has an excellent reputation and has many long time employees but we weren’t able to take the business to the next level. Cogent reached out to us and when we took the first meeting and made the decision to have an analyst out to look over the business, we weren’t sure that we would feel we needed to have their assistance.
After the assessment with Merlin VanGerpen, when we learned all the things we didn’t know we didn’t know and needed to know, we decided to have Cogent help us. The following week Nick Jordan came to help us. We feel very fortunate and felt from the start that Nick was a perfect fit for us and what we needed. The entire office staff worked together through leadership development sessions, one-on-one sessions and with us to get procedures written out and others established so that everyone knew what was expected. We all put to paper the thoughts and procedures we had in our minds and what we needed to use for decision making.
It is an accurate statement to say that our managers and both of us feel that we have a much better understanding of what we need to do to grow the business, what our performance numbers are and what our budget and forecasting for the future looks like.
The process is intense but you are guided through it and given multiple resources to help you continue with your success once Cogent is no longer on site. The only regret we have is that we didn’t find Cogent sooner.
