As a specialty commercial subcontractor over the last 5 years, CHM Weatherguard has built what we felt was a successful, stable, and profitable company. However, we found ourselves “stuck in the mud” over the last 24 months and had seemingly reached our growth and profit plateau. We, as an ownership and management team, were struggling to find the tools and strategies that would allow us to take the next leap in our business. All the planning and efforts we attempted seemed to be in vain, and we began searching for a partner that could help us understand what we were doing right, but more importantly, what we were doing wrong and how to address those issues.

After finding Cogent and working through the initial Project Review, we felt that their team was the perfect partner to help guide us through the process. Our Project Director, Matt Baker, immediately helped us see the value in revising many of our processes and putting specific accountability in place for each position. Job Descriptions, Evaluation Tools, Management Tools, as well as generally streamlining the communication between departments, have shown changes immediately. Even more importantly, we gained a deeper understanding as owners of financial documents, a better cash flow analysis approach, a different view of labor burden rates, as well as a unique overhead and breakeven analysis. Their recommendations and view of these three specific items allowed us to budget and plan with a “profit up” mentality.

In addition, we are utilizing Cogent’s Tax Planning service to help maximize our potential profits and protect our investment and hard work in this organization and its employees.
